Staking: HANS → sHANS

Lock HANS for a term you choose and receive sHANS, your staking position and the basis of voting in governance.

Staking V3 runs on the test network and deploys directly at mainnet. The previous test deployment (v2) is retired, and its positions were not migrated.

The lock #

Term	1 to 104 weeks, in whole weeks
sHANS	`HANS × weeks ÷ 104`: a 104-week lock mints 1 sHANS per HANS; shorter locks mint less
Positions	Each lock is a separate position with its own term
Early exit	Allowed, with a penalty that starts at 10% and falls linearly to 0% at maturity
At maturity	Withdraw your HANS in full, or renew the position. A matured position earns nothing until you do

Voting eligibility #

A position's voting power starts at 10% of its sHANS on the Thursday after you lock and grows every week to 100% at unlock. Renewing a mature position keeps its earned voting power at full strength; only the new part of a longer term grows from 10% again. Each vote uses the voting power fixed when it opens.

Claiming a position's votes holds it until that week's vote closes: a held position can't be unlocked early. See Voting.
